Developing Community Relations in Lagos

16 April 2010

Bill has just returned from running a Community Relations Development programme in Nigeria for a global oil production company.

The three day course in Lagos involved managers who work with host communities in the Niger Delta and other oil-producing parts of the country in order to minimise disruption to production.

The course examined three key areas for participants:

  • Creating a winning community relations team
  • Negotiating for Success
  • Maximising your return, while minimising your risk

The course was highly participative and used a variety of learning methods including checklists, case studies, role plays, class exercises, examples, presentations, tools, tips, traps and techniques. Parts of the workshop were recorded on video, and the output reviewed.
