Nigerian Bar Association - Second Business Law Conference - March 2007

Pippa was delighted to be invited to Nigeria for the second year, to Abuja to the Nigerian Bar Association Conference to run a workshop on achieving objectives through written documents.  In groups of 8 we had competitions on the best documents which achieved objectives in the most comprehensible way.  Lively discussion, much enthusiasm and some excellent drafting was the order of the day.

 A tremendous time.

Pippa's report on the Counsel-to-Counsel Forum in Lagos, Nigeria, April 2006 :

She writes:

I have just returned from the most tremendous week in Lagos , Nigeria .

I was invited there by an entrepreneurial commercial firm of lawyers led by Ayuli Jemide. Ayuli attended one of my presentations at the International Bar Association Annual Conference in Prague in 2005 and was determined that I should visit Nigeria and run some sessions there.

I had the most stimulating and enjoyable week.

I ran a one-day conference - "Keys to Rainmaking Success" - for a range of professional services firms, including legal practitioners, travel agents, insurance advisers, tax advisers, financial advisers, a librarian and a florist. Up to about 90 people attended in total and we had a participative day role-playing, discussing, networking and watching the films of our exercises. The energy and the passion for excellence was almost tangible.

The second day I participated in Nigeria's first ever Counsel-to-Counsel Forum, in which in-house counsel and external lawyers sat at small tables together to talk about the pressures they were under and their expectations of each other. This was a ground-breaking Forum and resulted in a greater mutual understanding.
